MSUWC Endorses Gretchen Whitmer for Governor

Wednesday, February 1, 2017

At its January 2017 delegate meeting the Michigan State Utility Workers Council announced its endorsement of Gretchen Whitmer for Governor of the State of Michigan.  The one hundred and twenty delegates and members in attendance were surprised on Saturday morning when President Patrick Dillon introduced Gretchen Whitmer.  Gretchen addressed the delegates and members regarding Michigan's future and the need for "a leader who isn't afraide to level with people about the real problems we face and bring them together around bold solutions.  A leader who will put people first, and work for good-paying jobs, high quality education, and economic oppurtunities for all.  A leader who will fight for us!".

Following her remarks, Gretchen was presented with a letter of endorsement from the Michigan State Utility Workers Council stating "over the years, whether as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, a member of the Michigan Senate, or most recently as the Ingham County Prosecutor, Gretchen Whitmer has stood with, and stood up for, the working families of the state of Michigan; and the Michigan State Utility Workers Council is confident that Gretchen's tenaciousness, dedication and leadership is just what the state of Michigan needs to recover from the last eight years of hell it has lived through".

In addition to the MSUWC endorsement, Gretchen was presented with a contribution from the Michigan State Utility Workers Political Action Committee of non-dues, freely and voluntarily contributed funds provided by the MSUWC's 3,800 members from across the state of Michigan.
