Consumers Energy and OM&C 2010 Negotiations Update #1
• Negotiation activities for the OM&C Working Agreement, which expires June 1, 2010, are underway
• As in 2005, the company and union have agreed to a mutual gains bargaining approach
• Health Care and Retirement/Pension Option teams (with company and union reps) have been working since October
• Five additional option teams have been established to develop options related to 1) Training/skilling, 2) Overtime, 3) Meals/premiums 4) Shifts/schedules and 5) Paid absences
• Option team members have been trained on the mutual gains approach, and will begin meeting the week of January 18
• Option teams will report out to the First table in mid-February
Negotiations updates will be distributed twice per month or as other major milestones are met.
