Palisades Membership Refuses To Ratify Tentative Agreement

Thursday, June 17, 2010

At a ratification vote on June 15, 2010, the membership at Entergy's Palisades Nuclear Plant voted down the tentative agreement which had been reached on June 1, 2010 between the MSUWC and Entergy.  As a result, membership meetings have been scheduled for June 23 and 24 with the Local Union, the MSUWC, and the National to discuss the reasons the agreement was turned down.

Article I, Section 1 states:

"There shall be no picketing, strikes, concerted failure to report for work, slowdowns or stoppages of work, nor any lockouts, during the terms of this contract, or during any period of time while negotiations are in progress between the parties hereto for the amendment or renewal of this Agreement."

The MSUWC has notified the Company of its interest to re-enter negotiations to address the membership's concerns and reach an agreement that the membership will support.

UPDATE 6/24/2010

The membership meetings scheduled for June 23 and 24 were canceled due to an unplanned outage at the plant.  A meeting has been scheduled with management for June 25 to share reasons that the membership did not support the tentative agreemeent.  Additional dates will be scheduled to resume negotiations at this meeting.
