The MSUWC took a bus to Washington, DC on Friday, October 1 to participate in the One Nation March, which was held on Saturday, October 2.  The One Nation March featured human and civil rights leaders, environmental and peace activitsts, faith leaders, celebrities, and sports figures all marching together to help Put America Back to Work and to Pull America Back Together.

Dr. Richard Levins, who spoke at our September Council Meeting, is offering a free booklet to help us as union members explain how unionism is good for our economy.

After holding a series of ratification meetings, the tentative agreement between the Utility Workers Union of America, through its Michigan State Utility Workers Council, and Entergy Nuclear Operations for 2010-2015 has been ratified by the membership at Palisades.

On July 26, the MSUWC reached a second tentative agreement with Entergy for the membership at the Palisades Nuclear Plant.  Packets of the tentative agreement will be available later in the week of the 26th.  They will include full revised contract language and the newly updated healthcare premium schedule.  Informational meetings and a ratification vote will be scheduled for August 9, 2010.  Times and location are yet to be determined.

Senate Bill No. 1313, which provides additional penalties for crimes against utility workers, has passed the legislature and was signed into law by Governor Jennifer Granholm.

After holding a series of Virtual Call Center (VCC) ratification meetings, the tentative agreement between the Utility Workers Union of America, through its Michigan State Utility Workers Council, and Consumers Energy for 2010-2015 has been ratified by the VCC membership.

Late on July 1st, the MSUWC and Consumers Energy reached a Tentative Agreement on the Virtual Call Center Working Agreement.

At a ratification vote on June 15, 2010, the membership at Entergy's Palisades Nuclear Plant voted down the tentative agreement which had been reached on June 1, 2010 between the MSUWC and Entergy.  As a result, membership meetings have been scheduled for June 23 and 24 with the Local Union, the MSUWC, and the National to discuss the reasons the agreement was turned down.
